The State University of New York (SUNY) Youth Sports Institute presents:
The Symposium on Energy Drinks:
Where the Science Meets Main Street
The first national symposium designed to explore the health impacts of energy drinks was held in New York City where thirteen top experts gathered to present research and analysis from their respective fields. The SUNY Youth Sports Institute gathered information and research on the health impacts that the $5 billion-a-year energy drink industry has on today's youth and adolescent population. Attendees were health professionals, educators, academics, sports, professionals and medical students. The symposium was held on Tuesday, June 30, 2009 at the SUNY Fashion Institute of Technology, The John Reeves Great Hall, 7th Avenue & 28th Street, New York, NY.
Located at SUNY Cortland, the SUNY Youth Sports Institute focuses on a broad range of topics in its work. While helping to establish a positive cultural experience for children, adolescents and parents, the Institute also trains coaches involved in organized and community-based sports. This program encourages the healthy aspects of physical activity through youthful games and non-school youth sports for all children. Please join the SUNY Youth Sports Institute in our efforts to highlight new information about a growing industry that has star appeal for our young people.
